As I mentioned, it took the Victoria-Regina deck for me to soften my perspective. And some of us never have any kind of issue with this card. It's just that so many of us DO because of the reasons and the history I cited. Tarot can uncover these sore spots and biases and lead us to further healing of wounds we may not even know we had.Ginny Claytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03759784851970527096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30754098.post-77592935248850636822010-08-12T18:30:30.401-04:002010-08-12T18:30:30.401-04:00Hi Ginny! I definitely had a positive reaction to the Hierophant in my deck, but its because my deck (which is also my first) is the Paulina Tarot, in which the Hierophant is portrayed as a wise old tree. We sometimes see as "stuffy" and "rigid" those traditions that protect what is sacred when really, if the Hierophant didn't protect those things, who would? And we would all be the poorer for it.

I love to hear from those who love this guy. I need my perspective broadened!Ginny Claytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03759784851970527096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30754098.post-8479446974403351922009-11-13T16:23:31.938-05:002009-11-13T16:23:31.938-05:00I am very new to tarot and don't have any conf...I am very new to tarot and don't have any confidence in "my" meanings as they are all nebulous and gathered from everybody else's thoughts anyway, but I have always responded positively to The Heirophant; I ignore the "doctrine" aspects of the card and pretty much pair him up with the High Priestess, much like The Emperor and The Empress. In fact the reading I did today -- a one card reading -- has me wondering if The Hierophant represents that which is sacred, and perhaps it is the way one must be very careful with things that are sacred that is perceived as The Heirophant's "rigid conformity."Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11851206616503509630noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30754098.post-29714612392103817962007-04-04T09:26:00.000-04:002007-04-04T09:26:00.000-04:00What a great analogy for the institutions represen...What a great analogy for the institutions represented by the Hierophant. :) Thank you so much for that, rebecca. I am one who has had negative reactions to this card at first, and that seems to be more common, so I love hearing from those who feel positively about The Hierophant .Ginny Claytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03759784851970527096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30754098.post-20248817952682836352007-04-04T09:04:00.000-04:002007-04-04T09:04:00.000-04:00I have always had a positive reachion to this card...I have always had a positive reachion to this card. Part of that is to do with how i prefer employment as a member of a team, participate in group sports and projects - i like things around me to be organised because my thoughts and feelings are so much the opposite; tangled, diverse, nebulous. Also when i first thought about this card i thought of bees and bee hives. they are noble creatures, dedicated, dependant on and trusting of each other. They opperate above the level of individual interests, harmonise, and of course, keep hive secrets from other hives. They initiate newcomers or reject them, they speak in tongues (or tails in their case). Of course they have their darker side; they sting the uninitiated, they are dependand and cannot survive alone; forced to conform to a limited world. This card speaks to me about the compromises we make in life in order to achive something, to commit, to dedicate, to surrender.Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05646478032680726219noreply@blogger.com
