And from the metaphysical side of things, the Pages are the feminine energy, known in the yogic discipline as Ida, the counterpart to the masculine energy known as Pingla, which are the Aces. So together the Pages and Aces form the two entwining snakes of the Caduceus, which truly makes them messengers of the nervous system and servants of the Chakras, which could be seen as the Royals within the Tarot.

It has always been helpful to me when I have studied something with historical roots to trace those roots in order to associate the original context to my more modern sensibilities. It's just one of the facets of tarot I particularly enjoy: the history. With the Pages, many people understand that they were something like a servant, or maybe a young prince, but not a boy of 7 years old far away from his family waiting at the lord's table and helping him get dressed. Life was very different 500 years ago.

I love how you go into things like history to explain the cards better. thank you! I'm especially looking forward to your court cards series; this entry about the Page has been more helpful than most of the books I've read, which tend to just give one interpretation instead of explaning what a Page IS.
